Patrick joined Topa Thermal in early 2025, bringing with him a strong background in sales and business development within the medical and pharmaceutical world. From implantable materials to synthetic bone technologies and eyecare products, his career has always been closely connected to healthcare innovation.

With an international upbringing and experience living in multiple countries, Patrick brings a genuinely global perspective, speaks five languages, and works confidently with a wide variety of customers and project types.

In his role as Business Development Manager, Patrick meets customers across a range of settings – from industry conferences to on‑site visits and dedicated sessions at the Topa Institute – learning first‑hand what they’re trying to achieve and how Topa Thermal can support them. He particularly enjoys uncovering where processes can be simplified.

A common challenge Patrick sees is that small pharmaceutical items and biological samples sometimes end up in packaging that’s far bigger than needed. Helping customers reduce unnecessary effort, CO2, and costs is something he appreciates. When refrigeration isn’t immediately available, he also demonstrates how the EZCODE parcel’s press‑activated cooling system provides a safe, uncomplicated option.

What Patrick values most is working in a company that improves patients’ quality of life. With a passion for transport, aviation and discovery, he enjoys the travel that comes with his role and the teamwork that defines Topa Thermal. He’s a firm believer of the T.E.A.M approach – Together Everyone Achieves More.

Outside of work, Patrick is an international field hockey umpire. He also enjoys running, travelling, and all things sport – competitive by nature, but always in it for the joy of the game.

“Openness, honesty and trust guide every conversation. If we get those right, everything else falls into place.”

My Favourite Innovators – Gerhard & Bernd Hansen

Father and son, Gerhard and Bernd Hansen invented blow‑fill‑seal (BFS) in the early 1960s – an automated process that blow-moulds a plastic container, fills it with aseptic or sterile liquid, and hermetically seals it in one continuous operation. This closed, hands‑off approach significantly reduces contamination risk and improves sterility compared to traditional multi‑step filling methods involving separate components.

Patrick admires Hansen’s ability to engineer a process that is both elegantly simple and fundamentally safer for patients.
